Driveway Mirror Round and Roundtangular outdoor convex mirrors can be used at your driveway exit to see traffic when there are obstructions, curves or hills which block your view of the road.

A 12" round mirror was used in this picture, however an 18" mirror would normally be a better choice in this application. For mirrors placed on the opposite side of the road or more than 20 feet away from the driver, you should use a 26" or larger. We suggest 1 inch of mirror diameter for every foot you are from the mirror. Normal two-lane roads are around 20 feet across so a 26-inch mirror should be used in those situations. It is always best to go with the largest mirror your neighbors will tolerate for maximum visibility.

The pictures on your Right were taken from the end of a customer's driveway. The 1st picture shows the view looking to your left where a mail box and some landscaping is blocking the view down the road. The next picture was taken from the drivers seat showing the RP-P180MR round convex mirror on the right side of the driveway. The mirror is positioned to reflect the road traffic coming from the left. This configuration has helped the driver to see if a car is coming from the left. (Note: It is actually easier to see the image in the mirror than the picture implies.) We took two more pictures using a slight zoom to focus on the image provided by the mirror. The first picture (lower left) is a car at around 350 feet away. The next picture shows a car around 200 feet away.   The customer simply attached the mirror to a piece of angle iron they purchased from a hardware store. Their setup is working very well for them, however we would suggest that a wooden post be used and the mirror mounted a little higher to see over the mailboxes.

The Mirror on your Right is an RP-P2030MR - 20" x 30" roundtangular mirror used to see over bushes blocking the driver's view of traffic coming from the Left. This mirror was mounted on a steel traffic signpost driven down through the bushes on the right side of their driveway. Roundtangular mirrors provide the same visibility as round mirrors with a lower profile, which reduces the chance of blocking the view from the other direction. The mirror is mounted higher than the bushes. Doing so has allowed the driver to see over the bushes to the left (not seen in this picture) for vehicles heading toward them, before they pull closer to the exit to take a second look. It is important to note that you should never completely rely on what is or is not seen in the mirror before driving onto the road. Using a direct line of site should always be the final determining factor.

Click the word "Rectangular" on the left under CONVEX MIRRORS to see the Rectangular Convex mirror products and pricing. We suggest the the "Outside weatherproof" with the steel backing for outside environments.

Garage Mirror Customer Picture An RP-P1218 Roundtangular mirror was used here to enable a driver to see cars coming down an alley before backing into the alley. Without the mirror, there was no way to see cars on the other side of a wall (just out of view of this picture). Due to the wall blocking the view from the driver's seat, there was always the danger of backing out in front of another vehicle traveling in the alley.
We welcome any pictures you have of our mirrors being used and give special thanks to those who have sent these pictures to us.
